OHMIGOD!!!
The crash of 2009 has swallowed one of architecture's greatest voices; Richard Meier. The master's singular career has been capped by another first: First time he's been out of work. The staff has been let go, the offices closed and the ideas that spawned 2 generations of lesser imitators.....
Few careers span half a century and so and so the legacy of Richard Meier spans decades of creative work. Known for his version of modernist architecture, his work is characterized by a spare elegance that graces buildings from residences to skyscrapers. Most recently known for the twin pillars of steel and glass that line the Hudson River in the tony Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. The architects name has become associated with the movie stars and celebrities who flocked to buy condos in his see-through masterpiece.
