WORLD'S NEWEST
ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL OPENS
RAPHAEL VINOLY MASTERWORK
New York City's only architecture school that is publicly funded has just been completed and is welcoming students to the new academic year. Master architect Raphael Vinoly built the signature structure on top of and around the framing of the decades old predecessor building. At 115,000 square feet the building provides a home for classrooms, labs, meeting spaces and display area. The architect's work was made possible by a generous gift from the Spitzer Family to CCNY for the building's construction.....

The crowning glory of the public education system in New York City has always been CCNY. For decades it graduated a who's who of top CEO's of America's Fortune 500 and its graduates went on to success in many fields. With the opening of the star architect Raphael Vinoly's new building both CCNY and its diverse students receive a building worthy of the school itself. Aspiring architects may not get the free tuition benefits of earlier generations of CCNY alumni but the school is affordable for many who would otherwise be locked out of an architecture education. With the new school the inspiration for excellence will literally be surrounding students lucky enough to go there.
